They meticulously pleated a substantial 4.5 meters of tartan across the centre. It was then secured it around the waist with a belt. Designed to conquer the harshest Highland weather, its adaptability allowed them to wear it in numerous ways. This offered unparalleled protection and comfort. Over time, the feileadh mòr evolved into the clothing we know today, and the “small wrap” (feileadh beag). This became the dominant form of Highland attire.
